GERA Membership

Membership of GERA/DGfE is open to anyone who has demonstrated, through academic work, that the Association can expect to benefit from their involvement in terms of academic and professional policy. Such evidence may be provided by a completed or ongoing doctoral degree, a track record of regular academic publications, or extensive academic engagement with educational science. [GERA/DGfE Constitution § 3(1)]
Members have the right to vote and to stand for election; membership entitles the holder to receive the members’ journal “Erziehungswissenschaft” and the conference proceedings.

The DGfE is recognised as a non-profit association and is registered in the Berlin Charlottenburg Register of Associations under the number VR 29048 B. The membership fee is tax deductible.

Contribution regulations

The membership fee is €100.00 per year. In the event of retirement, unemployment or marginal employment, the fee may be reduced upon application. 

• Members seeking employment: €30.00
• Members with 65% employment or less (based on TVÖD 13/14 and comparable rates): €35.00
• Retired members: €40.00
• Members employed and resident in an Eastern European country: €52.00
