Subdivision Education for Sustainable Development
The subdivision Education for Sustainable Development connects the activities for research in the field of the same name in the German Educational Research Association (GERA/DGfE) and sees itself as:
- Forum of exchange on research on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD),
- network for a systematic further development of theories and concepts of ESD,
- organizational framework from which the activities of ESD can be researched, represented and disseminated in all sectors of the educational system and in educational policy.
Among others, the following topics are in the focus of the subdivision's work: theoretical foundation and conceptual clarification of ESD; implementation, mainstreaming and institutionalization of ESD in the education system; transfer of ESD; competence development, measurement and diagnostics; function of ESD in developing sustainability awareness; quality development and professionalization of ESD; importance of lifelong learning, gender mainstreaming and lifestyle research; competences of teachers.
